Working Strategies: Negotiating a raise can cut both ways Amy LindgrenHow do you negotiate for salary when the other person knows pretty much everything about your current pay package? This is the situation for internal negotiations, which workers may undergo when asking for a new role, navigating a promotion, or starting with a new employer post-merger.The problem with your boss knowing the specifics of your current compensation is that you can’t leverage any of those points. In an external negotiation, it’s routine to state that you’re used to a certain level of flexibility or vacation time or bonus. The curious ways Ivanka Trump has returned to dad’s side in case he becomes president again: report People shouldn’t read too much into Ivanka Trump saying last year that she was done with politics, or her failure to thus far appear at any of Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign events.Behind the scenes, a new report by Vanity Fair says that the former first daughter supports her father’s attempts to return to the White House, especially if she and her husband Jared Kushner believe there could be prominent roles for them in the next administration.Vanity Fair and other outlets have logged the ways that the former socialite and entrepreneur has stopped distancing herself this summer from her father, which was the case for two years after he lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden. And not all of Ivanka Trump’s gestures of support have been behind the scenes. The former White House senior adviser has let herself be tied to him, at least socially, even as he has been indicted on more than 91 counts in four jurisdictions, including charges in Washington, D.C., and Fulton C...

Big Greater Boston cases and where they go next: From Karen Read to Brian Walshe The husband accused of murdering and dismembering his wife in their Cohasset home on the first day of this year and then hiding her body, which has never been found, is back in court this week. It’s one of several big cases that have made this year such a newsy one.Brian Walshe, 48, was indicted for the murder of his wife, Ana Walshe, 39, in March, and was arraigned on the charge in Norfolk Superior Court in Dedham on April 27. At that time, Judge Beverly J. Cannone denied him bail and set a next court date for Aug. 23, this Wednesday, a date confirmed by the clerk’s office last week. The case has been largely dormant since that time, minus a treasure trove of District Court-level filings that were released when the case was kicked up to the Superior Court, as the defense and prosecutors build their cases. The grisly case has garnered national attention with its details, including alleged Google searches found in the days following Ana Walshe’s disappearance, including “How long ...
