With the 10-year anniversary of their last championship, the third in a magical five-year run, around the corner, the San Francisco Giants’ World Series era is only fading further into the rearview mirror, and now the architect of those clubs says he no longer roots for the organization.“Do I have any ill feelings? No. But do I root for the Giants? I can’t say that I do,” Brian Sabean said during a recent appearance on “The Krueg Show.”Sabean, 67, joined the Giants’ front office in 1993 and spent the bulk of his career running their baseball operations, overseeing the club’s first World Series title in San Francisco in 2010 and delivering two more in a span of four years, until Farhan Zaidi took over after the 2018 season.Sabean departed the organization last January to become an adviser to Yankees GM Brian Cashman, an opportunity he said “was always on the table” and “should’ve seen … sooner.” Transitioni...Jim Jordan’s speaker bid on the brink amid steep GOP opposition

(CNN) — Rep. Jim Jordan&#’;s speaker bid is in peril as the Ohio Republican confronts steep opposition from members of his own party, raising serious questions over whether he can flip enough holdouts to win the gavel. The House is slated to hold a second speaker vote Wednesday in what could be a pivotal moment for Jordan&#’;s candidacy. An initial round of voting on Tuesday resulted in 20 Republicans voting against Jordan, far more than the handful he could afford to lose given the GOP&#’;s narrow majority. As pressure grows on Republicans to find a way out of the leadership crisis, some have pushed for expanding the powers of the interim speaker, Republican Rep. Patrick McHenry of North Carolina. Republicans are discussing the possibility of bringing forward a resolution to empower McHenry as soon as Wednesday afternoon, two sources told CNN. Jordan dug in Wednesday morning, saying he is going to stay in the race and rejected the idea of ...Bay Area Heat Advisory begins, high surf expected

TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — President Joe Biden swept into wartime Israel for an 7 1/2–hour visit Wednesday that produced a heaping dose of support for the Israeli people, a deal to get limited humanitarian aid into Gaza from Egypt and a warning not to allow rage over the deadly Hamas attack to consume them. “I understand. Many Americans understand,” Biden said as he wrapped up his stay in Tel Aviv, likening the Oct. 7 Hamas attack to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist strikes in the United States that killed nearly 3,000 people. “You can’t look at what has happened here … and not scream out for justice,” he said. “But I caution this: While you feel that rage, don’t be consumed by it.” Biden urged Israel to step back from the brink, not just to ease growing tensions in the Mideast that threaten to spiral into a broader regional conflict, but also to reassure a world rattled by images of carnage and suffering, in Israel and Gaza alike.
